Pennsylvania medical cannabis sales are getting a big lift from the addition of anxiety as a qualifying condition.

In less than a month, 3,000 people were certified to buy medical marijuana because of anxiety disorders, the Pennsylvania Capital-Star reported, citing state health officials.

The qualifying condition became effective July 20.

State health officials said 180,000 patients now are registered in the medical marijuana program, with about two-thirds of those actively buying products.

The 2019 Marijuana Business Factbook projected MMJ sales in Pennsylvania would reach $275 million-$325 million this year.
