A Tennessee man filed a federal lawsuit seeking millions of dollars in damages against Trulieve, Florida’s largest medical marijuana operator, for allegedly sending illegal text messages to his cellphone.

Mats Jaslow contends in the lawsuit that he received unsolicited text messages from Trulieve in October and November that advertised cannabis product promotions, according to The News Service of Florida.

Pushback against cannabis marketing spam is on the rise:

  • In August, two California residents filed a lawsuit against Massachusetts-based Tilt Holdings for allegedly spamming them.
  • In October, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against Eaze, a major player in the California cannabis delivery industry, for allegedly sending unsolicited texts advertising marijuana deals.
