New Jersey lawmakers released their latest proposal to legalize recreational marijuana in the state.

A joint Democrat-led Assembly and Senate committee is expected to discuss the package of measures on Nov. 26.

It’s the latest draft in a long-running effort to legalize recreational cannabis in New Jersey, where the effort has stalled, despite support from Democratic leaders such as Gov. Phil Murphy.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The proposal provides for legalizing an ounce of marijuana for adults 21 and older, setting up a five-person cannabis commission and taxing cannabis sales at 12%.
  • The draft also permits local governments to apply up to a 2% tax on cannabis.
  • Gov. Murphy’s office didn’t respond immediately to the new legislation.
