Washington state regulators lengthened the contract for Leaf Data Systems, the seed-to-sale tracking program offered by Denver-based MJ Freeway, requiring the company to focus on stabilizing and fixing the system after the software experienced challenges during a July release.

The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) amended the contract with MJ Freeway, extending it from July 31 to Sept. 30.

The amendment to the contract states that during the extension, MJ Freeway “shall limit its efforts to performing additional stabilization of the system” and “needed corrections, if any, specific to release 1.37.5.”

The software release in mid-July took down the traceability system for days, costing thousands of dollars in lost business for Washington state’s cannabis business owners.

For marijuana companies in the state still experiencing problems with Leaf Data Systems, the LCB is offering a document with Leaf workarounds and tips.
