Massachusetts’ medical marijuana program is now being governed by the state’s Cannabis Control Commission, but MMJ businesses in the state shouldn’t expect much change.

The move brings both the recreational and medical cannabis programs under the control of the same agency.

The health department had been regulating the state’s medical cannabis market since sales began in 2015.

The five-member Cannabis Control Commission was established in September 2017 to regulate Massachusetts’ recreational marijuana industry, which launched this year.

According to MassLive.com, the transition of the MMJ program oversight away from the state health department is going smoothly.
