Not everyone likes the aroma of marijuana.

Many municipalities, in fact, have laws requiring cultivation operations to mitigate or control the smell of cannabis.

And some marijuana companies, simply seeking to be good neighbors, take steps to keep odors from escaping their facilities.

There are quite a few ways to control the smell of cannabis, but growers will want to find an approach that doesn’t adversely change a cultivation facility’s environment or impact plant health and product quality.

But there’s no perfect solution.

According to Dr. Laura Haupert, director of research and development for OMI Industries, an Indiana firm focused on controlling manufacturing odors for several industries, “No matter what, there’s no odor control out there that’s going to be 100%.”
