City officials requested the audit last year after outcry from stakeholders over a flawed rollout. The launch involved a first-come, first- served application window for 100 marijuana retail permits. The audit found that 226 applicants were able to sign on to the platform before the latest licensing round opened. The L.A. Department of Cannabis Regulation is “preparing a series of recommendations” for legislative amendments to retail and delivery application procedures “based on insights gained from the audit.” Colorado State regulators said cannabis companies could hire some of the 9,000 casino workers furloughed March 17 without having to obtain any additional credentials. Regulators softened hiring requirements because casino employees and cannabis workers undergo similar background checks. While state casinos were shuttered during the coronavirus epidemic, marijuana companies were classified as critical businesses that can remain open. Colorado’s marijuana retailers were temporarily restricted to curbside transactions, but Gov. Jared Polis amended the order March 30 to allow customers on site.
