Timeʼs Up for Sundial CEO The CEO and director of Calgary, Canada-based cannabis producer Sundial Growers, Torsten Kuenzlen , stepped down Jan. 30. Before Sundial, Kuenzlen had spent many years in senior posts at Molson Coors and the Coca-Cola Co. Kuenzlen joined Sundial in 2018. Board member Zach George will take over as chief executive. Sundial also announced a slate of other changes, including: • Executive Chair Ted Hellard stepped down but will continue to serve on the board. • Chief Operating Officer Brian Harriman is leaving the company. • Andrew Stordeur , who serves as president of Sundial’s Canadian operations, will take over as chief operating officer. In Consolidation Bid, Two Execs Out At TGOD The Green Organic Dutchman Holdings, an Ontario, Canada-based license holder, announced President Csaba Reider and Vice President of Sales Mike Gibbons are both leaving the company. Reider’s duties will be assumed by CEO Brian Athaide , while Robert Gora , vice president of medical commercialization, will assume the consolidated role of vice president of national sales. Athaide said the changes are part of an effort to create a leaner and more efficient organization. Cultivation Solutions Gets New CFO Agrify, a marijuana- and hemp- focused indoor grow business in Beverly, Massachusetts, appointed Niv Krikov as chief financial officer. Krikov joins Agrify after two years as chief financial officer at Desalitech, a Newton, Massachusetts, company that manufactures industrial reverse- osmosis systems. He also was CFO at PeerApp, a streaming-solutions company, and NTS, which focuses on fiberoptic communications. Shuman is a B2B multimedia veteran with more than 25 years of experience growing digital platforms, trade shows, data-driven marketing channels and traditional print media. His most recent experience includes 12 years overseeing a specialty produce agricultural industry brand The Packer, for Farm Journal Media. Halie Anthony is vice president of information technology. Anthony has held senior IT positions in both the private and public sectors. Her IT career includes 12 years in the defense industry working for both the federal government and Lockheed Martin. Her defense experience includes information technology, systems engineering, space and missile defense. She also spent many years in the health-care arena and sits on the board of Community Dental Health in Colorado Springs. Greenhouse Solutions Firm Promotes Grower-Turned-Salesman Kemin Crop Technologies in Des Moines, Iowa, promoted Vince Livengood to regional sales manager with a focus on commercial greenhouses and specialty crops. He previously served as technical services manager for the company. Livengood is a former head grower who spent the first 20 years in greenhouses around the United States. He was responsible for all aspects of greenhouse production—from beginning the production cycle (plugs and propagation) to retail-ready products such as bedding and pots crops. Global Law Firm Adds Attorney to MJ Group Financial law specialist Sativa Rasmussen left the Lane Powell law firm for the cannabis group of law firm Dorsey &Whitney. She will be based in Seattle. Rasmussen advises companies ranging from startups to established market leaders on issues such as entity formation and structuring, financings and acquiring and disposing of businesses. She also specializes in analyzing risks associated with interstate and international transportation of hemp, understanding best practices for the manufacture, labeling and distribution of hemp products as well as counseling clients on developing policies and regulations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Federal Trade Commission. Rasmussen founded the Cannabis Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association in 2016. CFO Leaves Canadian Investment Spinoff Chief Financial Officer Michael Carlotti left Australis Capital, a Las Vegas investment group that spun off from Canada’s Aurora Cannabis. Australis said in a news release that Carlotti’s employment was terminated effective Jan. 16. The company gave no explanation for the move. Alex Han will serve as CFO on an interim basis.
