She is the co-founder and CEO of CannDelta, a regulatory and scientific cannabis consultancy in Toronto, where she provides regulatory expertise and develops strategies to ensure regulatory compliance. Before that, Boodram spent several years in the Canadian federal government, most notably with Health Canada’s Medical Cannabis Program as a senior regu- latory compliance and enforcement officer. She was responsible for licensing application reviews and on-site facility inspections. Supreme Sales Hire The Supreme Cannabis Co. in Ontario, Canada, hired Joel Toguri as senior vice president of commercial. In this role, he will establish and oversee Supreme’s provincial and retail sales strategy across all brands. Toguri previously led sales for a large licensed producer in Ontario, managing medical and recreational sales to patients and consumers. Before entering the cannabis industry, Toguri served as vice president of sales and operations at Southern Glazer’s of Canada, the Canadian branch of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits, the Miami- based alcohol company. He has also held leadership roles at MolsonCoors and Beam Global Spirits &Wine. Bacardi Exec Joins Charlotte’s Web Board Charlotte’s Web Holdings, a CBD extracts company in Boulder, Colorado, appointed Jacques Tortoroli to its board of directors. Tortoroli most recently worked for Bacardi in Bermuda, where he was chief administration officer. Before joining Bacardi in 2014, Tortoroli spent more than a decade at Viacom, where his posts included executive vice president of finance and chief financial officer for Viacom Media Networks, formerly MTV Networks. Tortoroli also held leadership roles at Young & Rubicam, PepsiCo and KPMG; he recently accepted a position as executive in residence and lecturer at St. Thomas Aquinas College in New York. He has been a member of the college’s Board of Trustees since 2001. The appointment of Tortoroli, who will serve on the compensation and audit committees, brings the number of directors to seven. Congressman Joins Canadian Licensed Producer Former Indiana Congressman Stephen Buyer was appointed to the board of directors of FSD Pharma, a Toronto-based cultivation company. Buyer served nine consecutive terms from 1993 to 2011. He served on the committees on Veterans Affairs, Armed Services, Judiciary, Energy and Commerce and also sat on the Military Compensation and Retirement Modernization Commission. He is currently the managing partner of the 10-Square Solution focusing on business development, mergers and acquisitions and representation before the federal government. Denver Compliance Firm Lands Revenue Officer Akerna, a cannabis compliance software firm in Denver, appointed Nina Simosko as chief revenue officer. Before joining Akerna, she was president and CEO of NTT Innovation Institute, a Silicon Valley-based innovation center for NTT Group, one of the world’s largest information and communications technology companies. Additionally, Simosko served as the global chief operating officer for SAP’s worldwide customer education organization and was responsible for driving more than a half-billion euros in global education software and services revenue. TerrAscend Taps Grocery Guru To Lead Board New York-based Jason Ackerman , founder and former CEO of online grocer FreshDirect, has been appointed executive chair of the board of directors at TerrAscend, an Ontario-based cannabis company with operations in Canada, the United States and the European Union. He is also a senior adviser for the Boston Consulting Group, a strategy consulting firm. Matthew Johnson , TerrAscend’s former president, has departed the company. Insurance Firm Hires Cannabis Specialist Hub International, a Chicago insurance brokerage, snagged Jay Virdi as chief sales officer for its cannabis insurance and risk services in the United States and Canada. Virdi most recently developed and managed the cannabis practice group for a North American specialty risks agency. The Insurance Institute of Canada designated Virdi as a chartered insurance professional. MPP Adds Revolution CEO to Board The Marijuana Policy Project in Washington DC appointed Mark de Souza , the CEO of Chicago- based MSO Revolution Enterprises, to its board of directors. He has served on Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s agricul- ture transition committee. De Souza also assisted with fundraising efforts for Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, the Lynn Sage Foundation and the Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation.
