November-December 2019 | mjbizdaily.com 39 Colorado State regulators were finalizing rules at press time to ban certain ingredients from marijuana vaping products, following the lead of other states with legal cannabis programs in the wake of the vaping health crisis. Colorado’s Marijuana Enforce- ment Division discussed proposed rules that would prohibit the use of the follow- ing ingredients in cannabis concentrates or products used for inhalation: • Polyethylene glycol (PEG) • Vitamin E acetate • Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT oil) To go into effect, the rules must be adopted and signed by the State Licensing Authority. If the rules are adopted, cannabis companies will likely be required to comply beginning Jan. 1. Other proposed rules include following U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards for restricted or prohibited ingredients. Connecticut A physicians panel recommended adding chronic pain that has lasted at least six months as a qualifying condition to use medical cannabis. The same board also voted to recommend adding Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a group of disorders that affects connective tissues and can be painful. Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Michelle Seagull officially accepted the board’s recommendations, which must be voted on by the General Assembly’s Regulations Review Committee. The physicians did not recommend adding night terrors and parasomnia to the list of eligible conditions.
