Marijuana Business Magazine March 2019
Massachusetts Recreational marijuana shops in Massachusetts racked up nearly $24 million in sales during their first two months, according to the Cannabis Control Commission. The regulatory agency also issued its 100th recreational marijuana business license, though only eight rec MJ retailers had begun full sales as of late January. The 100 licenses have gone to retailers as well as growers, edibles makers and testing labs. The first retail stores in Massachusetts began operations Nov. 20, and the commission reported aggregate gross sales of $23.8 million through Jan. 20. Michigan More than 60 unlicensed medical cannabis dispensaries that were shuttered in December are being allowed to sell product until March 31 in response to legal challenges and complaints about shortages. Michigan’s medical marijuana licensing board voted unanimously to allow dispensaries in the process of trying to get a permanent state license under a new, stricter system to reopen. The licensing board also approved five additional MMJ licenses, including two for dispensaries. The state now has approved 104 licenses, including 54 dispensary permits, under its revised regulatory framework. 39 Norman Street, Salem, MA 01970, USA
