Ontario Grow Welcomes New CFO Green Relief, a licensed medical cannabis grower in Hamilton, Ontario, tapped Andrew Pegg as its chief financial officer. Pegg joins from Spin Master, a global toy and entertainment company headquartered in Toronto, where he had been vice president of finance since 2013. Pegg also has been vice president of finance and business planning for Latin America and Canada at Revlon, the international personal care company. He also held financial executive posts at PepsiCo and Corby Spirit and Wine. Holler Heads Harvest One Board Vancouver, British Columbia-based Harvest One Cannabis announced that the board of directors appointed Frank Holler as chairman. Holler joined the board as a director in September 2018. Peter Wall, Harvest One’s former chairman of the board, will remain on the board as a director. An expert in biotechnology, investment banking and venture capital, Holler is president and CEO of Ponderosa Capital and previously served as CEO and partner of Lions Capital. He also served as president and CEO of ID Biomedical, a vaccine- development company sold to GlaxoSmithKline. Before working in biotechnology and health care, Holler was an investment banker with Merrill Lynch Canada and Wood Gundy (now CIBC World Markets). Boulder Hemp Business Hires Marketing Pro The Boulder Botanical & Bioscience Laboratory, a Colorado company that specializes in research and develop- ment of hemp-derived products and large-scale contract manufacturing of private-label CBD products, appointed David Gumner as chief marketing officer, a new executive position for the company. Gumner has served in marketing leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, Whole Foods Market, Kraft Foods and other companies. New Chiefs in Gabriella’s Kitchen Gabriella’s Kitchen, a marijuana edibles company also known as Gaby that has 25 non-cannabis products in more than 3,400 retail stores in the United States and Canada, appointed Jamie Fay as president and chief operating officer. Fay is a former chief customer officer and general manager of Hain Celestial, where he was responsible for U.S. and international sales, strategic planning and operations. Fay is a member of the Whole Foods Market supplier council. At Calgary, Alberta- based Gaby, Fay joins a former Hain Celestial colleague, Maureen Putman , who was recently recruited as special adviser to the business. Gaby also hired Barb Feit as chief financial officer. Feit is a former chief financial officer at Big Rock Brewery, a large craft brewer listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and also served as the company’s interim CEO. Telecom Sales Pro Joins MJ Holding Company CannAmerica Brands, a portfolio of cannabis holdings in Colorado, Maryland and Nevada, hired a new national brand manager, Joseph Bancheri , who is charged with increasing CannAmerica-branded product sales. Bancheri most recently worked as a sales executive at CenturyLink, the telecom company. Dentons Poaches Cannabis Lawyer From Jones Day Marijuana attorney Eric Berlin left his post at one of the world’s biggest law firms, Jones Day, for another major law firm, Dentons. Berlin joins the Dentons Chicago office as a partner in the health- care practice and will help lead the firm’s team of lawyers representing clients in the cannabis industry. At Jones Day, Berlin served publicly traded companies that sell cannabis products and services, as well as institutions that provide financing for the industry. Denver PR Firm Hires Chief of Staff Grasslands, the cannabis-focused communications firm in Denver, hired publishing veteran Debbie McHugh as chief of staff. McHugh previously was with publish- ing company Rodale (since acquired by Hearst Communications), where she served as director of people operations and strategy for all the company’s properties, including Men’s Health, Women’s Health and Runner’s World. Toronto Tech Firm Taps Founder as CEO The board of directors of Alternate Health, a cannabis-focused technol- ogy company in Toronto, appointed founder Howard Mann as CEO. Mann also was elected to the board of directors. Outgoing CEO Dr. Michael Murphy will stay on as board chair and continue to work closely with executive management to ensure a smooth transition.
