Michigan More than 70 medical marijuana dispensaries across the state closed as of Dec. 31, after Michigan regulators warned that they would need to shut down at the end of 2018 or risk not receiving permanent licenses. Some of the businesses that shut down were operating under temporary permits issued at the local level but without permanent state licenses. According to Michigan-based cannabis attorney Barton Morris, some of the MMJ dispensaries had pending applications before the marijuana licensing board, and other firms’ applications were denied. Missouri State health regulators began accepting license application fees for medical marijuana cultivation, infused product manufacturing and dispensaries on Jan. 5. The application fees are not refundable. Application forms for cannabis business licenses will be made available June 4 and must be submitted separately, according to the state’s health department. In other news, Missouri also appointed outgoing state Rep. Lyndall Fraker as director of the state’s MMJ program.
