State News Alaska State regulators approved rules for on-site consumption of marijuana at some retail cannabis shops. Interested businesses would have to apply for a special on-premise-use endorsement and devise plans that would meet ventilation and other standards. Stores with on-premise use would have to have a smoke-free place for employees to monitor the consumption area. The adopted rules must be reviewed by the state Department of Law and signed by Lt. Gov. Kevin Meyer before they can be finalized. Arkansas Justin Smith, a pediatric nurse who says he has seen the positive effects of medical marijuana on his patients, was appointed to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission on Jan. 7. The 38-year-old is a nurse at Arkansas Children's Hospital and has worked in pediatric care for 11 years. He replaces James Miller, who resigned from the commission to focus on his family and business. Additionally, an outside firm has been reviewing dispensary applications, and two cultivators believe MMJ should be available for dispensaries by April. Industry Developments | International & State
