In Massachusetts, Cannabis Strategies acquired Sira Naturals, a cannabis cultivator with three dispen- saries in the state. Combined revenues for the five firms, which are all licensed for medical and adult-use operations, is projected to be $197 million (CA$261 million) in 2019. The transaction is slated to close in the first quarter of 2019. Toronto Investment Firm Goes Italian Toronto-based investment firm LGC Capital is buying 47% of Italy’s “cannabis light” pioneer EasyJoint for $5.4 million (CA$7.2 million) in cash and stock. From its 450-plus locations in Italy, EasyJoint recorded $4.5 million in sales of roughly 150 branded items for the past 10 months, ranging from low-THC dried flower to CBD oils, according to a news release. Lab Launch Aleafia Health, a cannabis company with cultivation and medical clinic operations, is formally launching a research, development and innovation division to be called Aleafia Labs. Aleafia Labs will leverage the company’s existing patient database and intellectual property to advance the development of proprietary cannabis products. R&D activities will focus on the development of cannabis products that might act as a replacement for addictive prescription opioids and sleeping aids. Name Change British Columbia-based Marapharm Ventures, a public company with substantial medical and adult-use cannabis assets in the United States and Canada, has changed its name to Liht Cannabis Corp.
