Connecticut The state added eight ailments to the list of conditions that can be treated with medical marijuana, bringing to 30 the number of adult conditions treatable through MMJ. Minors can be treated for eight conditions. The eight new conditions for adults include spasticity, or neuropathic pain associated with fibromyalgia; severe rheumatoid arthritis; postherpetic neuralgia; hydrocephalus with intractable headache; intractable headache syndromes; neuropathic facial pain; muscular dystrophy; and osteogenesis imperfecta. The latter two conditions also apply to patients younger than 18. Florida Two banks terminated the campaign accounts of a Florida agriculture commissioner candidate because she supports medical marijuana. Just weeks before the Aug. 28 primary, Wells Fargo said it was shutting down the account of Nikki Fried based on a review of its bank ing risks. The Democrat said she had lobbied for medical marijuana companies and received contributions from MMJ lobbyists. A second bank, BB&T of Winston Salem, North Carolina, called the campaign Aug. 29 to say Fried's account there had to be closed within 30 days. Florida voters legalized medical marijuana in 2016, but some banks are reluctant to do business with the cannabis industry because MJ remains illegal under federal law.
