Medicine Man Technologies, a Denver-based cannabis consulting firm, appointed co-founder Andy Williams as chief executive.

Williams served as interim CEO after the abrupt death of Brett Roper in December.

In the interim role, Williams oversaw the pending acquisition of MedPharm Holdings, an intellectual property development and holding company focused on cannabis research and product development.

That deal, expected to close in June, will give the combined companies a revenue run rate between $40 million and $50 million.

Roper’s death – the cause was not disclosed – stunned the cannabis industry.

Roper helped Williams found Medicine Man Technologies in March 2014 – five years after Williams co-founded Medicine Man, a vertically integrated Denver cannabis company.
